Early Career Faculty Seminar

The Early Career Faculty Seminar (ECFS) provides untenured faculty from all five schools with structured opportunities to build community and connection among colleagues and to receive targeted professional development related to teaching. ECFS is open to both tenure track and non-tenure track faculty within their first three years of teaching at UR.

The ECFS meets every two weeks during the academic year to explore a wide variety of topics related to teaching and learning. Each semester, participants work with a facilitator from the Faculty Hub to co-design the structure and topics to be covered. Sessions generally consist of a mix of open discussions, short presentations, invited guests, and mini-workshops. Some of the topics that groups often choose to discuss include: inclusive and accessible teaching, active and collaborative learning, grading and assessment, mid-term course evaluations, teaching with technology, facilitating class discussions, and course design.
